FAQ

I’ve never been to church before. How does this work? Do I make a reservation? Do I just show up?

You can just show up! There is no need to make a reservation or to call beforehand. We have space for you, and we often have people just show up.However, you might feel more comfortable if you talked with us before arriving.
Even if you don’t talk with us before coming, you are welcome here.

Where do I sit?

You are welcome to sit anywhere you wish. Seating is not reserved.

Do I have to participate?

You are welcome to participate in the worship service to the extent that you feel comfortable. You do not need to sing any hymns or speak the creed or any other responses.
In general, it is polite to stand when the rest of the congregation stands and to sit when they sit, if you are able. However, if you are unable to stand or feel uncomfortable standing for the portions of the worship service when we stand, you are free to remain seated.

What about communion?

At Hope, the Lord's Supper is offered at every service and the Lord's Table is open to all who hold to the Christian doctrine that is confessed and shared by the members of our congregation and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).It is the common practice of all LCMS congregations to adhere to the doctrine of closed communion, which means that all repentant, baptized Christians who have been instructed in and hold to the confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, as articulated in Luther's Small Catechism, and are members in good standing of an LCMS congregation are welcome to receive the Lord's Supper. Guests will be kindly greeted by the Pastor prior to the service.

If you wish to contribute, we take a freewill offering at our church.
